This thursday we will make a special, traditional Thanksgiving dinner. For 5 euros only, you will enjoy a great homemade meal with a glass of wine, with all the backpackers and staff! You can buy your vouchers at reception now!
We have happy hour all night long from 6!

Only two weeks ago, our Flying Pig Uptown Bar was overtaken by the halloween spirit. For 5 days we celebrated this ancient pagan tradition.
On halloween night (wednesday october 31st) our staff had put together a Treasure Hunt… Guests were taken on a spooky tour through the vondelpark, where they encountered lots of scary creatures:
fairies, witches:
wherewolves, zombies and vampires:
The guests had to solve a riddle and got treated to free alcohol along the way… It finished with a spectacular fire show where the Lord of the Dead, his fire clowns and all the other creatures scared the living daylight out of the guests!!
After this terrifying nightmare experience, the guests got escorted safely back to the warm cozy hostel, where beer and wine served in the bar brought back a feeling of comfort and ease…
But not for long! Next day the big finale was celebrated with a dress up party!! People really put in a lot of effort to spook the others (or to make them laugh).

On thursday november 22 we will organize once more a thanksgiving dinner!
Home away from home, when it’s cold outside and warm inside, we serve our guests a traditional dinner to create that family feeling.
On the menu: turkey, mash, gravy, cranberry sauce, carrots and peas and a delicious dutch dessert…
DJ Rodrigo used to spin at the famous club “THE MELKWEG” at Leidseplein, since a while we managed to get him to the Downtown Hostel! So every sunday you can listen to his great mix of music. He starts at 9 and will go on ’til late! Double happy hour from 8-10!! So we’ll see you all at the downtown hostel!!!
