Nadya’s & Javier’s Farewell party

This week we will have on Friday the 27th of March (yet another) party of the year planned! It will be the legendary farewell party of two of the most old school members of La Flying Pig Familia. Nadya and Javier will spread their piggy-wings and fly away! The theme of party is Latin meets the 80’s! Yeah!

We will have live music by the lovely and energetic TenTemPiés (www.myspace.com/tentempies), and of course with two of the best dj’s in town: Dj Aida & Dj Milli a Milli Melissa, who will spin the night away, baby! We have received word that the Queen herself may pop by!

St. Patrick’s

Ayayay, as always we had a lot of parties going on and of course planned! A fabulous St. Patrick’s day last week, with a full bar and life Irish music made the bar pump till early in the morning! People danced, people drank, people laughed and people partied all true the night!

Get lost …( between millions of flowers!!!)

Close ( 8 km) to our Flying Pig Beach Hostel the famous international flower expedition the ‘Keukenhof’ are opening their doors again for the 60th time. In this jubilee year the theme is going to be : ‘USA, New Amsterdam: New York’.
The expedition is open from the 19th of March until the 21st of May (08:00 – 19.30).

So get on your feet and experience the amazing 32 acres covered up to 7 million flowers !!!
You can scrawl around the garden for about 5 hours and that all for only €13.50 pp.

To get there from the Beach Hostel:
* You can hire a bike (it’s only 8km) and enjoy the flower fields all around you ( €5,- pppd)
* Or for the lazy backpackers among us you can take a bus ride ( €2,50 one way, 1 hour)
* Parking your car is free and we are happy to print out directions for you

On the 25th of April the flower ‘corso’ is in Noordwijk.
A HUGE parade with sculptures made out of flowers are heading out from our town Noordwijk to the city Haarlem and then back to our beautiful boulevard where the wagons will be parked and you can take your time to enjoy the floats up close. The theme for the corso this year is : famous books.

Earth Hour

At 8:30pm on Saturday 28 March, people from all corners of the world will turn off their lights for one hour – Earth Hour – and cast their vote for action on climate change. Anybody can participate and join together with millions of people across the globe celebrating Earth Hour. 1,672 cities, towns and municipalities in 80 countries have already committed to join.

It’s an innitiative of the WWF. Amsterdam joins too, all lights shining on important buildings and bridges will be turned off; interesting to go for a walk!
