Molly Malone’s

One of the best Irish bars in Amsterdam, Molly Malone’s is located in the heart of the city just a 6 minute walk from our sister hostel St Christopher’s Inns. Have good craic in this traditional Irish pub and enjoy sampling some Irish whiskies (with over 75 behind the bar)/ ]. There’s a really great range of Irish beers on draught and in bottles so be sure to step out your comfort zone and try something new. On St Patrick’s Day, there will be a buzzing atmosphere in Molly Malones with plenty of Guinness flowing and a lot of green shirts!

The interior of this pub can’t get more Irish with old whiskey barrels, aged Irish antiques and an old oak bar. On a usual day, the pub is always filled with locals and you’ll hear different accents from around the world so we can only imagine what it’s like on St Paddy’s Day. It’s on the corner of the Red Light District where there are plenty of other bars where you can continue your Irish pub crawl. Durty Nelly’s is just a short walk away - or stay at Molly Malone’s all night since it stays open until 1am.

Mulligan’s

This Irish music bar is one of our favourite spots in Amsterdam to get merry on a few beers and dance to some live Irish music. Located in a picture perfect location overlooking the River Amstel, Mulligans is a small, cosy pub and a favourite amongst Irish expats living in Amsterdam. Knock back some Kilkenny’s while watching an Irishman on guitar getting the party started. St Paddy’s Day can’t get better than that?

You are guaranteed to meet people from all over the world here and since it’s a late-night bar you can enjoy live music until 1pm. We recommend making a stop at this Irish joint towards the end of your Irish pub crawl because you’ll be ready to dance by then! Party hard on St Paddy’s Day and enjoy the traditional folk music and fun atmosphere here.

O’Reilly’s

O'Reilly's is a highly rated Irish pub in the centre of Amsterdam located just behind Dam Square and the Royal Palace. This pub offers a cosy interior and an international range of drinks (including all the Irish staples) and tasty grub. Their slogan is “Serving up Guinness & good times since 1994” so if you’re looking for a good time on St Paddy’s Day look no further.

We recommend popping for a tasty Irish dinner on 17th March because the restaurant serves up authentic food that will line your stomach for the rest of the Guiness-fuelled evening. The beef stew is to die for. For St Patrick’s Day, O’Reilly’s will be putting on a party you won’t want to miss with a real warm, welcoming atmosphere.

St James’ Gate

Smack bang in Amsterdam city centre is one of the newest pubs to the city’s Irish scene. Named after Dublin’s entrance to the home of Guinness, St James’ Gate lives up to its name by serving up hearty Irish comfort food as well as, of course, a seriously good and perfectly poured pint of Guinness.

You can always count on this Rembrandtplein Irish pub to be buzzing, but when it hits St Patrick’s Day people flood here right up until closing time at 2am for a pint of Guinness and the buzzing atmosphere. Sit out on the terrace (one of the biggest in Amsterdam) and get toasty under the heaters, or join the real party inside where the music is turned up and the whiskies are flowing.

O’Donnell’s

Right behind the Heineken Brewery in De Pijp is one of the best pints of Guinness in Amsterdam. O’Donnell’s is full of Irish flair with a touch of Dutch mixed in, making it a real top spot for St Patrick’s Day celebrations. With its recent renovation, O’Donnell’s now has enough room for 200 merry men and women to whack out their best Irish jig after trying a whiskey or two.

Whiskey drinkers can get a taste of a few of their 30 different whiskies, while beer lovers make the most of the 12 they have on tap. Take your Guinness to their outdoor terrace, and enjoy the great craic of locals, Irish expats and internationals this St Patrick’s Day in Amsterdam. The pub is open until 1am so bring your dancing shoes for a Paddy’s Day you won’t forget.

Durty Nellys

Just an 8 minute walk from Centraal Station is this buzzing Irish pub serving up everything you could want for a big St Patrick’s Day night out. Grab your first Guinness of many and stand up for the Irish jig to some of Amsterdam’s best live music especially for Paddy’s Day celebrations. This warm and friendly pub is a top spot for a little Irish charm, a few pints of the good stuff and a hearty bowl of Irish stew.

Guinness not your thing? Durty Nelly’s selection of whisky and spirits will keep you up on your feet all night long. Pull up a seat at the bar and browse the draught beers, bottles, whiskies and spirits or ask the bartender for their top recommendation. Being right by the Red Light District, make sure Durty Nellys gets a spot on your Irish pub crawl in Amsterdam.
