1 Sky Lounge Amsterdam
If you’re looking for a chilled place to drink beer whilst kicking back and enjoying a view, this bar is the place to go. Skylounge is an award-winning rooftop bar on the 11th floor of the Double Tree Hilton Hotel boasting comfy sofas and chillout spots on a huge outdoor terrace. Just a pre-warning, the view of Amsterdam is incredible from up here but food and drink prices are pretty expensive - especially the cocktails. We recommend paying a trip here for a couple of beers only if you’re on a backpacker budget.
2 Nemo Science Museum
One of the coolest views in the city is from the Nemo Science Museum Rooftop, the perfect place to hang out with friends in the summer. The roof of the building is the highest square in the whole of the Netherlands, where architect Renzo Piano created a piazza up high for people to enjoy - and the view really is incredible. The rooftop is free to access for everyone; you don’t need to be a visitor at the museum to enjoy it.
3 A’dam Lookout
Can you brave Europe’s highest swing as you float over the city? In Amsterdam Noord, you can benefit from spectacular panoramic views from A’dam Lookout. From up here you can see pretty much the whole city in all its glory - best on a clear, sunny day. You can either enjoy the view from the 360 degree observation deck or take it a step further and go on the over-the-edge swing where you’ll fly 100 metres above the ground. You’ll also find a cool rooftop restaurant and bar at the top. It’s €13.50 to get up the A’dam Lookout and another €5 to test out the swing.
4 Canvas
Canvas is a popular nightclub by night and a bar and restaurant in the daytime. Located on the 7th floor of an old industrial newspaper building in Amsterdam East, you can benefit from fantastic 360 views of the south of the city from behind the glass. We recommend heading for a nice early breakfast or coffee to watch the sunrise.
5 Blue Amsterdam
Who can say no to a panoramic view in one of the trendiest spots in central Amsterdam? Blue is a really awesome bar on the third floor of a shopping centre, that offers a 360 degree view of the city where you can spot some of Amsterdam’s biggest sights. This includes Rijksmuseum, The Royal Palace, the Flower Market, not to mention the beautiful architecture that’s found in the city centre. Pop in for a coffee or a bite to eat. Serving up brunch and lunch, the menu is affordable and tasty!
